FAQ’s

Q1. Do you offer storage? Yes, our secure warehouse is Government approved and fully secured, and only Your Local Movers staff have access to the site. Each consignment is picked up by our professional movers and transported to our Secure Warehouse. The goods are then packed into secure wooden crates, sealed, and stored in our warehouse until delivery day. Whether it’s for a few days between settlement or a few years while you are renovating or overseas, we can tailor a package to meet your needs.

Need access to your goods that are being stored? We recommend our friends at National Storage who can take care of all your self storage needs. www.nationalstorage.com.au

Q2. How does the 6-minute increment charging work? We have designed a unique billing system where we charge in 6-minute increments after the first hour. Basically the 6-minutes work out to be 10% of one hour so you are always in control of the costs. Other removal companies charge in half-hour or hourly blocks.

Q3. Am I able to help on the job? Of course! We encourage you to help out as much or as little as you like. Bring several friends – the more you help, the less you pay!

Q4. Do you have insurance? In 2006 a new law was passed where no furniture removal company can offer insurance unless they are also an insurance broker. Many furniture removal companies state that they have full Transit Insurance and Public Liability Insurance.  It is important to know the difference between Transit Insurance, Public Liability Insurance and the insurance of your belongings. Transit Insurance only covers the vehicle if there is an accident. Public Liability Insurance only covers injury to another person. Neither covers the furniture in the back of the truck. Your Local Movers has both Public Liability Insurance and Transit Insurance but we also have a written Stress Free No-Damage Guarantee that says if we damage anything, we will either repair it or replace it at no cost to you.

Q5. What size are your trucks? We offer two services to suit your moving needs. Our standard fleet are  4.5 tonne trucks which we recommend for 1 – 2 bedroom homes.  Our large fleet are 10 tonne trucks which we recommend for 3 – 4 bedroom homes. For most moves 4 bedrooms and/or bigger we recommend two trucks from the large fleet to save time and money. We can also provide ferrying vehicles for homes with tricky access.

Q6. How much notice do I need to book? Generally we recommend 2 – 3 weeks notice in advance so you are guaranteed you preferred day and time slot.

Q7. Are your removalists professionals? Yes, we recruit and train all our hand-picked staff. We have a strict policy where we do not hire anyone with a criminal record or subcontractors. All our team are polite and friendly.

Q8. Do you confirm bookings? Yes, every booking is confirmed with a Booking Confirmation email. Plus, a couple of days prior to your move, one of our friendly consultants will give you a courtesy confirmation call. If you need to contact us, your phone number and full name are your reference for any information.

Q9. Do you charge depot-to-depot? Yes. Being a professional removal company we pay our guys as soon as they are in the truck leaving our depot.  We calculate the most direct, quickest route to your door. This way you are not paying for our guys if they get stuck in traffic or have to take a detour due to road-works.

Q10. Do you charge extra for pool tables or pianos? We do have a surcharge for moving piano’s or pool tables because they are very heavy and need to be handled with great care. Generally we recommend piano’s to be moved by a professional piano mover because they are very delicate and fragile and of course, they need retuning after the move.

Q11. Do you sell boxes? Yes, we have a selection of boxes as well as packing materials available for purchase. Check out our prices here

Q12. Do you offer packing and unpacking services? Yes we do, at an extremely affordable rate.

Q13. Will you dismantle my bed or desk? It’s all part of the service, we’ll even put it back together at the other end.

Q14. How do you accept payment? You can make payment by EFTPOS at the end of your move.  We accept any card except for American Express or Diners Club. There is a 3% surcharge for paying with credit cards. Unfortunately, we do not accept cash as payment.

Q15. Do you provide fixed price quotes? Yes, our Business Project Managers specialise in corporate and business relocation fixed price quotes and our Senior Move Consultants specialise in residential relocation fixed price quotes. Call us and organise your free in-house quotation today.
