Back injuries, hernias, stubbed toes… These are all common moving injuries. So what does a Brisbane removalist do to avoid all these injuries to their precious movers? Well at Your Local Movers we use various techniques to prevent these injuries to happen!
Primarily, we use a “buddy system”. The first step to the buddy system is selective pairing, if we pair two movers with similar skill levels, they are able to learn off each other and when the movers get paired with co-workers with greater or lesser skill, they are able to learn or teach each other. All of our movers are all experienced and professionally trained, they are always updating and honing their skills.
Another prevention method we use, is utilizing devices such as ramps, skates, trolleys and dollies to minimize the physical exertion needed by the movers. These specialised moving equipment reduces the risk of injury, whilst also reducing the possibility of any damages occurring to the items being relocated.
We use specialised lifting techniques, whether it be for lifting a simple box to our using our unique strap lifting methods for heavy and awkwardly balanced items. The lifting techniques ensure all of the movers are not injuring themselves as they are using proper technique to lift items.
Our movers all have been inducted on OH&S and all have a working understanding of the basic principles of OH&S, but if they should ever need backup or have a question regarding something that may put them in risk, the Operations leader is a quick phone call away.
Sometimes risky situations are best avoided, and there are a few things that are completely out of the question when it comes to moving. A good example of this is the relocation of fridges and couches off a first story balcony. It is very easy to see how a Brisbane removalists could be seriously injured or killed if these practices were allowed.
