Comments Off on The Idiot’s Guide to Tail Lifts and Ramps
Have you ever seen a removalist truck and wondered why some have a ramp at the back of the truck where others have a lift and the items are actually raised up? To be honest, I didn’t even know there was a different but apparently there is. Some trucks have a tail lift, others have a ramp and some are even lucky enough to have both.
So what is the difference between them? And are they used for different things? These were all the questions that popped in my head when I found out about them, so I am sure they are buzzing around your eager minds also!
Well, it is pretty easy to tell the difference between a ramp and a tail lift as everyone knows what a ramp is, however, tail lifts are not as common. However, if you take the two words apart it makes sense; tail meaning at the back, and lift a platform for raising and lowering. You get a “tail lift” meaning a platform at the back of a truck with raises and lowers for items to get them inside the truck!
So, what one do our trucks have? We have a fleet of vehicles, ranging in sizes meaning some of our vehicles have ramps, some have tail lifts and some are actually lucky enough to have both!
With the vehicles that are special enough to have both, when do the movers use which one? The movers will assess the move on the day and see which option will work better with the furniture at the home. This is because some furniture may not be able to be used on the ramp if it is too long. Another variable is heavier items such as fridges, etc are much easier and safer to be lifted by the tail lift.
Now, I hope you know everything you wanted to know about tail lifts and ramps and are now an expert!
