Comments Off on Using Crates VS Boxes for your office move
Planning an office relocation in Brisbane can be stressful enough, without the added variety of moving containers. That is why we have analysed both for you so you can make the simple decision whether you want to use plastic crates or traditional cardboard moving boxes.
We at Your Local Movers have recently got on the plastic crate bandwagon and are now offering the option of moving crates to all of our commercial clients.
Crates are becoming more and more popular for our clients as they are easy to use, are able to be reused, very sturdy and are cheaper than boxes.
We currently offer two different sizes of crates; small and large. We hire them out on a weekly basis, the weekly rate for the small crates are $1.50 and the large ones are $2.50.
In comparison to the traditional cardboard archive boxes, the larger crates are slightly larger than an archive box and the smaller crates are slightly smaller than an archive box.
Crates allow the move to be more organised. Since you are paying for them weekly, this makes you want to unpack a lot quicker than you would with an ordinary cardboard box. Some removalists may also have a deadline for you to return their crates, which will create a sense of urgency for you to unpack your crates to return them in time. This is great for someone who is usually unorganised.
There is no assembly required for crates, they are delivered ready to be packed. All you need to do is open the lid, fill the crate and stack everything in them. From there all you need to do is close the lid and stick on a label. At Your Local Movers, we are able to provide you with labels of all different colours to keep your crates nice and organised for the move.
Unlike crates, boxes need to be assembled after they have been delivered. This means you will need extra packing materials such as scissors and tape. Since you are purchasing these boxes, this means there is no urgency for you to unpack which could lead to boxes being left around the office for months with important items still in there.
Once you have finished with the crates and have unpacked them, you can easily stack them on top of each other, which allows more space around your office. Boxes are much
than crates and take up a whole lot more office space. Especially if they are left around for weeks waiting to be unpacked.
The structure of a crate is much different to a box. Crates have carrying handles on the side for comfortable lifting, whereas boxes you just need to hold the sides of the boxes. Crates are water resistant, which means if something is spilt on the crate your items will stay safe and dry inside. However boxes are completely the opposite, cardboard allows liquids to seep through the box much easier.
Crates environmental impact is much lower than cardboard boxes, as crates are able to get reused over and over again. However most of the time after someone has used their moving boxes they are likely to chuck them out and recycle them. Recycling cardboard actually uses a lot of energy!
