Comments Off on What Kind of Truck Will You Need?
Got a move coming up and is there one main question buzzing around your head? Is that question “ What size truck to do I need?”. If it is the questions, well I am going to help you now! If it is not something you have thought of, you probably should as you don’t want a small truck turning up and having to do multiple trips. As this can quickly make the cost of your move increase rapidly.
Before I get into the details, I will have to tell you that these are just average numbers and may not be correct to your own house. This is as everyone’s house is different and some people may only use a moving company for larger items and doing the smaller items such as boxes themselves.
So first, it depends on the size of your unit/house, how many bedrooms do you have? This includes study rooms and offices as well, so be sure not to leave those rooms out.
If you have a one bedroom unit, you are looking at having around 10-15m3 worth of furniture. Therefore, you will need to make sure your truck size is within these sizes. Here at Your Local Movers our smallest truck is 20m3 and I am sure that is the same with all other Brisbane removalists. So you will only need to ask for a small truck and that will be fine.
Maybe you have something a little bigger and have a two bedroom unit/house. With two bedroom properties, you are looking at having an average of 20-24m3 worth of belongings. Most small trucks are around 18-24m3, so be sure to let the removalists know if you have a fully furnished place, or if you have a not so furnished place. This will allow them to allocate the correct vehicle on moving day.
Is it a three bedroom house/unit you have? Well, then you are looking at having approximately 30-40m3 of furniture. With three bedroom properties, you will need a medium size truck. Once again our medium size vehicles range from 30-36m3 so you will need to be very specific when speaking to a move consultant on the amount of items you are needing to be moved. Allowing the move consultant to underquote your move will only allow a smaller vehicle to be allocated than required for you move, leading to confusion and multiple trips on your moving day.
Perhaps you have a larger house, with four bedrooms, you are now looking at 40-50m3 worth of belongings in your home. You will definitely need to ask for a large truck for this move, even if you do not feel your place is very furnished. It is always best to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to moving as you don’t want the bill at the end very expensive due to the wrong size truck.
Again with a five bedroom home you will need a large truck and possibly an extra smaller truck to accompany the larger vehicle with the move. For five bedroom homes, you are looking at 60+ m3 worth of furniture. Brisbane removalists don’t normally have trucks this size that is why it is important for the extra smaller truck. This is usually not an extra cost, however for five bedrooms homes it is recommended to have at least 3 movers, to ensure the move doesn’t go all day long.
