Comments Off on What to look for when choosing a removalist
It is always daunting when you are first looking for a removalist, there are so many quotes being given to you. Most of the time the quote will only state the price but is the price the only thing that should matter when hiring a removalist? Definitely not. The moving industry is not regulated at all that means no matter how cheap a quote may look it may not be what you are looking for. Here are five important things you should look for when choosing a removalists:
Insurance– Since the moving industry is not regulated it is actually illegal for removalists to sell you any insurance besides transit insurance. Transit insurance only covers your items when they are in transit from one property to another. If a removalist says they will sell or give you insurance this is all it is, do not be fooled. It is a very important question to ask whether you will be covered when they are moving you. Some removalists may just say they have a guarantee, if they say this you need to make sure it is a written guarantee. Many removalists may sell you by saying they have a repair guarantee, however it is nowhere in writing.
Employees– It is very common for sub-contractors or staff from labour hire companies to turn up on the day of your move instead of employees from the removalist company you booked with. When choosing a company you need to ensure they do not use sub-contractors or labour hire. This is very important as sub-contractors would not have any experience or training in moving houses of offices.
Equipment– Ensure you ask if their vehicles are fully equipped with special moving blankets, tools (if you are needing them to disassemble or assemble anything), trolleys, etc
Availability– If you are just calling to get quotes, you must check their availability on your desired moving day. Some times of the year, especially near holidays, can get very busy and it would be devastating to not be able to go with your chosen Brisbane removalist company.
Extra charges– Some removalists company may appear very cheap when you originally ask for a quote, you need to be careful with these companies. The best question to ask them is “Are there any extra charges?”. These extra charges could be for a call out fee, heavy lift fee, overtime, etc.
